In another show of camaraderie and mutual respect, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli shared a heartwarming moment on Day 2 of the 1st Test between India and Sri Lanka. Kohli was given a guard of honour by his teammates before India began fielding at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Saturday and it seemingly was Rohit who convinced his former captain to accept the gesture from them.
In a video that has gone viral online, Rohit Sharma can be seen asking Virat Kohli to return from the field and walk in once again as the teammates were warming up after spending more than a day and a half in the dressing room, thanks to a dominating batting performance.
After Rohit requested Kohli to get back and walk onto the field again, the India players gave the star batter the guard of honour for his 100th Test.
Kohli acknowledged the gesture and the round of applause from the Mohali crowd as he walked onto the field to take his position before Sri Lanka began thief first innings.

Kohli became the 12th Indian cricketer and the 71st overall to play 100 Tests for his country. The former captain, who quit from the top job earlier in January, got out for 45 in the first innings even as India managed to post 574/8 declared, grinding down the Sri Lanka bowling attack in Mohali.
Notably, Kohli was felicitated by the team management before the start of the first Test. Head coach Rahul Dravid presented Kohli with a special India cap and urged him to “double it up”. Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma also joined the cricketer at the felicitation ceremony.
