Hanshi Shivaji Ganguly who is currently 9th Dan Black belt is the direct disciple of Sosai Masutatsu Oyama who is the founder of Full Contact Kyokushin Karate since the 1980. With his keen ship to inspire and moreover, give people a sense of complete independence with self defence, he now has formed the international Full Contact Kyokushin Karate organisation as ‘World Karate Council MKyokushin’ with the headquarters being in Kolkata.
Hanshi was the only Indian to have received the 5th Dan black belt from Sosai, who also appointed him as the Branch Chief of India. After the passing away of Sosai, Hanshi served honourably as the Chairman of Asia WKO Shinkyokushinkai for 16 years . His stories have only inspired the young minds to take keen interest in karate. He also served as the Chairman India and the International Committee member for world So Kyokushin Karate. His dedication in karate goes way beyond, and as much of a hard persona he holds, he has had a soft heart for each one of the members of his committee. He is one of the most well known in the league of karate in India and is also globally renowned. His exceptional self has helped him thrive and the 9th Dan black belt karate champion is the most humble person of all time. He craves making this world a better place to live in and has been working on it with great success alongside.
Over the years many international groups began creating Kyokushin Karate organisations, but none of it held the true essence of Sosai and his teachings. With that being the ultimatum, Hanshi Shivaji Ganguly began with the organisation. The ultimate aim to begin with the organisation is to preserve the essence of MAS Oyama’s teachings and keep them alive and to also nurture the true Kyokushin values. These values have always been important to Hanshi for Kyokushin Karate is not just any form of karate. It’s a way of life which also purifies the human mind. The intensity that karate holds, only amplifies with its certain styles and Hanshi is the one mentor who one should look upto.
