Cristiano Ronaldo received Portugal’s best scorer award, having netted 117 goals in 189 appearances. The legendary striker admitted that he never thought he could achieve the award.
At the 2022 Gala Quinas de Ouro, Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United was named the best scorer because of how well he played for Portugal.
With 117 goals in 189 games, the 37-year-old was recognised as Portugal’s all-time leading scorer. The Portuguese Football Federation staged the event.
“Proud to win the title as the best national scorer for the country that I love!” stated Ronaldo, who won Euro 2016 with Portugal and will lead his team in the World Cup in Qatar.
In his acceptance speech, the seasoned striker thanked everyone for their support over the course of his career.
“I am honoured to win a prize of this stature. I never imagined that I would succeed, “remarked Ronaldo.
I want to thank everyone who helped me in my career. Although my journey has been long, I would like to emphasise that it is not yet complete.
Ronaldo emphasised that he intends to surpass his international career.
“I intend to be a member of the Federation for a while. I’m still motivated, and I have big goals. My journey with the national squad is not done yet. We have a lot of talented young people. I’ll be at the World Cup, and I also plan to attend the 2024 European Championship.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored Manchester United’s opening goal of the current campaign. The goal was scored from the penalty spot in the Europa League game against Sheriff Tiraspol, the goal was scored from the penalty spot.
