A local court in Bihar’s Begusarai issued arrest warrants for Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, on Wednesday for allegedly insulting Indian Army soldiers and hurting the sentiments of their family members in their web series “XXX” Season 2.
According to the news agency PTI, the warrant was issued by Judge Vikas Kumar on the basis of a complaint filed by Shambhu Kumar, an ex-serviceman and Begusarai resident. In his 2020 complaint, he said that XXX Season 2 had several scenes with a soldier’s wife that were not okay.
“ALTBalaji,” an OTT platform owned by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms Ltd., aired the series. ” Balaji Telefilms is also affiliated with Shobha Kapoor.” Hrishikesh Pathak, Kumar’s lawyer, stated
, “The court summoned them (Kapoors) and asked them to appear in connection with the matter.” However, they (Kapoors) informed the court that certain scenes in the series were removed following the objection. However, they did not appear in court, so a warrant was issued against them. Pathak continued. In 2020, netizens called out the web series in question on Twitter by trending the hashtag ‘AltBalaji Insults Army.’ One of the season 2 episodes, titled “Pyaar aur Plastic,” has landed Ekta in hot water. An army jawaan’s wife is allegedly seen having an extramarital affair while her husband is away on duty in the episode.
Meanwhile, Ekta Kapoor is widely regarded as the soap queen of Indian television, owing to her role as one of the country’s most prolific producers. Ekta also invests in Bollywood films. Among her popular shows and films are “Bade Achhe Lagte Hain,” “Kumkum Bhagya,” “Dream Girl,” and “Ek Villain.”
