Digvijaya Singh officially entered the race for Congress president today as he arrived in New Delhi to collect nomination forms in a prelude. Digvijaya Singh said to reporters, “I have come to collect nomination papers. I will register my nomination tomorrow, the last day before the October 17 election. 
Shashi Tharoor will run against Digvijaya Singh. Tharoor is expected to turn in his papers tomorrow. 
With regard to his candidacy for Congress chief, Mr. Singh has thus far been evasive. He stated yesterday, “I haven’t spoken to anyone about it. I didn’t ask the high command for authorization “.
Like Ashok Gehlot, the 75-year-old former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh has long been a Gandhi family supporter. 
The Chief Minister of Rajasthan was the front-runner until his supporters openly turned against him for the job of Chief Minister. This upset the Gandhis and other powerful people in Delhi. 
The Congress still holds to the belief that Mr. Gehlot will submit a nomination for the election. Whether he meets with Sonia Gandhi today will determine that.
