An official said on Saturday that the Special Investigation Team, which is looking into the murder of Ankita Bhandari, has taken the three main suspects into custody.
Accused Pulkit Arya, the owner of the resort where Bhandari worked as a receptionist, and two accomplices — resort manager Saurabh Bhaskar and assistant manager Ankit Gupta — were arrested on September 23 for allegedly killing her after she refused to provide “extra service” to an unidentified VIP customer.
The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that the three suspects could be taken to the crime scene to figure out what happened and in what order.
Sub-inspector Vaibhav Pratap Singh of the Revenue Police Department, who is on suspension for dereliction of duty for allegedly failing to file an FIR in the case despite being approached, is also being questioned.
Ankita’s friend, with whom she talked on the day she was killed, also gave a statement to the investigation team.
The SIT has put together five teams to speed up the investigation into the case, which has made a lot of people in the state angry.
It also recovered a cellphone from the Chilla canal, where Ankita was allegedly thrown. The phone has been turned over to the forensic team, according to the official.
