According to a state official announcement, President Droupadi Murmu will begin her two-day visit to Gujarat on Monday by visiting the Mahatma Gandhi Ashram at Sabarmati in Ahmedabad. She will also launch and lay the cornerstones for projects worth Rs 1,330 crore at a ceremony in Gandhinagar. She will be visiting Gujarat for the first time as president.
According to a statement from the state government, President Murmu will worship at the Gandhi Ashram on the first day of her two-day visit to Gujarat before attending the ceremony in Gandhinagar, which will also be attended by Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, according to a statement from the state government.
According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan release, she would launch or lay the cornerstone for several projects pertaining to health, irrigation, water supply, and port development at GMERS, Gandhinagar, later in the day. She would attend a civic banquet in Gandhinagar that was being held in her honour that evening, it was said.
When Mahatma Gandhi wasn’t in prison or travelling throughout India, he lived at the Gandhi Ashram, also known as the Sabarmati Ashram. On March 12, 1930, Mahatma Gandhi started the Dandi march, which is also known as the Salt Satyagraha. He did this from this spot.
The president will lay the cornerstone for several projects relating to education and tribal development at Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, on October 4, according to a statement. He will also launch “herStart,” a start-up platform of Gujarat University for women entrepreneurs.
