Malavika Malaviya, an Economics Hons. graduate, has been creating positive waves of change in the vegan lifestyle niche in India.
Over the years, the world has been a witness to the rise of many people walking their way to the top in their industries and being celebrated for the same. However, it is incredible to notice how the tables have turned, and several professionals, experts, entrepreneurs, founders, artists, and many others have been taking over these industries in unimaginable ways. It is essential to put more light on the journeys these professionals have lived and how by making bold choices, they have created a unique niche for themselves. The vegan industry is a world of its own, which has so far given birth to innumerable talented beings globally, but one name that has managed to turn heads and attract major attention is Malavika Malaviya, a woman of passion, a visionary, and a progressive influencer in the vegan space.
Malavika started out her career in the field of corporate finance, eventually moving to Public Policy and currently works as a corporate leader at one of the leading telecom companies in India. However, when she went vegan 3 years ago after discovering the truth behind the horrors that take place in the meat and dairy industry, it inspired her to start her page on Instagram @malagoesgreen.
On her page, she shares posts around educating people on what veganism is, and how one can easily adopt a vegan lifestyle while living in the city with her 13k+ community of followers. Her goal is to promote a vegan lifestyle by dispelling the myth that living an eco-conscious lifestyle in the city is not possible (and in fact is very easy).
She collaborates with various brands such as No Nasties, Dencrus, VeganCo. Anata, Soft Spot Foods, Shop MulMul, Hello Tempayy etc. – all homegrown brands that are creating vegan/eco-friendly products across Food, Fashion, Beauty, Home Care etc. She has hosted various live sessions on Instagram discussing the journeys of the founders of plant-based brands to inspire other budding entrepreneurs to continue on this path.
She is currently a part of various vegan communities such as Vegan India, Vegan First Daily, PETA, Fridays for Future (India) etc. She also collaborates with restaurants that are making vegan dishes, such as People of Tomorrow in Delhi and Ubuntu café in Kolkata which are both 100% vegan. She will soon be launching her own website which will give members access to a community of vegans in India, along with curated recommendations from Malavika around various brands.
She believes that “The world does not need a handful of people living a green lifestyle perfectly, but millions of people doing it imperfectly”, and hopes to create a community around the same. If you are vegan curious or looking to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle, definitely check her page out.
Let’s talk about her success story:
She said, “It is difficult to break through the mindset that people sometimes have when it comes to veganism, and find you either too preachy or annoying, or say it is just a fad. But I realised early on that smart communication plays a key role in getting your message across effectively, and it is something I apply whenever engaging in any discussions now”.
She was recently interviewed by ABP news, a national tv network for a segment around what veganism is.
She further added for the newcomers that, “Whether you are looking to explore a vegan lifestyle or start a business in the same, there has been no better time to do it. More and more vegan products are being released in the market every day making the transition and adoption of a vegan diet easier. And with the vegan food industry predicted to reach USD 33.3 billion by 2030 in India alone, one can clearly say there is large-scale interest and investment going on in the space as well”.
Maalvika Malaviya wants to stop at nothing and continue breaking barriers in all that she chooses to do in his career and life. You can keep up with her on Instagram page @malagoesgreen.
